I like to recycle every bit of paper when I'm crafting!!! ♲ At the beginning of this week I've been re-sizing Xmas craft paper to create soap boxes with the envelop punch board and ended up with a bunch of paper strips ... I kept wondering for a day or two what to do with these paper leftovers and all of a sudden their simple shape suggested me to create Xmas-themed bookmarks ! You always think you have too many bookmarks (receipts, postcards, flyers😅), but when you need a nice one... you never find one! 😁 Step 1) I reinforced the back of the bookmarks with red cardboard  Step 2) I've die-cut some Xmas trees with this lovely Sizzix set ...or used leftover Xmas trees from the shaker cards project you can find  HERE , and glued them on the front of the bookmarks. One more request from a dear friend: candles that she could put on the table as Xmas favours! In particular, she wanted pillar candles with chunks on the  white/turquoise  hues.  She also asked for decorations m atching the colours of the candles and  having  snow flakes .  It took me a while before deciding what to do (it's much easier to use red, green, silver and gold when it comes down to Xmas things,😂😂😂 ahahaha)... ...and then I thought it would have been fun to use  the  bubble wrap stamping technique  to give the paper a snowy-like background! For the white bubbles: Dovecraft   Crystal White ink and Aladine   jasmine white embossing powder. Some time ago I bought this nice silicon moulds... I have already posted the Pannacotta candles with their tiny adorable fruits decorations, but I haven't shown you yet the results obtained with the Xmas-themed mould !    Here you can see a zoom in picture of the decorations I've made (a bit out of focus! hihihihi). They're made of soy wax and have been painted at a later stage. I've been preparing a lot of candles for customers and/or friend lately, but I also wanted to create a special Xmas edition for me and my beloved ones! Ladies and Gentlemen here you have the Xmas tree candles! This one below is a version without whipped top!

Ok, I seriously thought I couldn't stand a single chance... ...but determination is one of my characteristics and with only two tries* I think I managed to obtain a fairly good imitation of a commercial warming pad! *after the first try I realised that it was impossible to hand sew a double folded piece of cotton (4 layers) with a very thin needle and without a thimble, so I've undone the whole thing and started again from scratch (Repetita juvant!) I have used a cotton fabric stripe and the basmati rice as filling!  As first test I've warmed the pad in the microwave at 800/1000 W for one minute: IT WORKS !!! To make the pad look as a perfect present, fold it and wrap a satin ribbon around (do not put satin ribbons in the microwave, see my post on the Burning test ).

I'll create an additional post to discuss the choice of the wax, colours, fragrance and, above all, the choice of a trusted supplier! This is the first kind of candle I've attempted to make: tin container candle . I needed Xmas presents that I could put in my luggage and that could resist shocks!

I'd say by chance and because of a desperate need to find nice and personal Christmas presents !  Most of the times you end up buying very expensive and banal things that, with a good chance, have already been bought by other people for the same recipient: 3 pair of slippers for the poor granny, 2 identical ties for dad, 4 copies of the PUPA make-up kits for your sister (but this is probably something only Italian girls from the 80' remember!)... embarrassing !  And what about more personal items like parfumes, jumpers, underwear etc? Never ever the right size, or colour or fabric!!!  So why not going for something unique and very personal as a home-made candle (that by the way doesn't need to be changed in colour, size or fabric!!!)
