Showing posts with the label glossy accents

Summer bookmarks

I haven't been posting in awhile: laziness, some days of vacations, drop of creativity (mainly due to the lack of raw materials, hahaha 🤣) and days and days went by... Today I want to show you some bo ok ma rk s I recently made by using a cute digital stamp , some scrap paper and a magazine's paper . The digital stamp is from the Glimps series. I stamped it on 100% cotton watercolor paper , and I've colored it with ZIG  watercolors and Stabilo Swano markers. I added some interest to the little photographers with a fine tip black marker, a white gel pen and glossy accents (on camera's lens and flower-shaped hair pin). After watching this video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_d3irNsptSw ), I decided to try 3 different color combinations to create these skin tones I cut and rounded the corners of scrap paper and matching colored card stock. I punched either flowers or circles in the paper and added some magazine's shiny paper containi...

Homemade enamel dots....

I really love enamel dots  for card making, but they are INSANELY expensive! Some months ago, I bought a small Glossy Accents bottle (a glossy medium used to accent and brighten distinct areas of cards, albums, scrapbook pages etc.) This medium is semi-liquid and opaque when it comes out of the bottle's tip, but in few hours it becomes solid and transparent . While I was using the Glossy Accents for my cards, I realized that the consistency of the dry medium reminded me of transparent enamel dots, which made think it would be possible to use this medium to make my own enamel dots ... I bought a set of mini nail polishes for a reasonable price, dripped some Glossy Accents medium onto an acetate sheet, waited for few hours, and 'painted' the drops with the nail polish... Ok, I haven't been very accurate with the painting 🤣🤣🤣 Once the nail polish dried, I tried to carefully remove the drops from the acetate sheet....nonetheless, I ende...

A challenge to myself...

During the last two months I challenged myself to create cards and bookmarks without buying too many crafty tools! It's easy to make nice cards when we buy fancy die cuts, colorful scrap paper, flowers and enamel dots, expensive markers or lovely stamps...  For this project I wanted to rely on my creative side only and realize new pieces mostly with things I already had at home (especially in the kitchen 🤣). I made a minimal investment of less than 30 Euros and bought a box of 24 Stabilo Swano markers, 1 Xcut alphabet die and a  Ranger Glossy accents bottle (small size). Let's start with the bookmarks ! I'd like to spend few words on the first and third bookmark from the left. For the marble background I've used watercolours and a funny technique which relies on the use of saran wrap... For this and other funny watercolour techniques please refer to this interesting  VIDEO Cards will follow in the next blog post 😚 GOO...
