It's my second explosion box and it's for a friend who recently gave birth to a beautiful girl ! Box : 8 cm x  8 cm x  8 cm   Lid :  8.5 cm x  8.5 cm x 2  cm  Top view Double butterfly was created with a Xcut 3D butterfly die.  Decorations are from a pack containing baby design paper, buttons & other embellishments. Safety pins were left over decorations from I don't remember where :-)  Box has 3 concentric layers, a baby shoe in the center and a flag banner. E verything, but the square decoration paper,  has been hand-cut !!! Let's take a closer look at each layer! Layer 1 Two spots for pictures and two spots for baby weight and length. Tags: I've die cut the squares, rounded the border with a punch, printed with an ink-jet printer the the written part and the small butterfly and dabbed the edges with VersaColor ink pads.    Layer 2 2x spots for name and birth date. I recently joined an amazing FB group on  scrap-booking  and other craft-related hobbies . People are very nice and laid-back , tips are useful and, above all, I have the feeling that people are really enjoying what they do and they're are not out there to judge you! I've been admiring a lot of beautiful creations including explosion boxes (never heard about them before!) which I totally fell in love with. Yesterday was pretty hot and sticky here (and no A/C) and I needed some sort of distraction to spend the day (no chance to go out with that temperature after 10 AM)... I have been watching video tutorials about card making  for weeks now.   In particular, I've been following a couple of Youtube channels ( Christina Griffiths Card making magic  and Jennifer McGuire Ink ) that really inspired me so that I decided to give it a try myself. To be honest, I've always tried to make gift tags or Xmas cards myself whenever it has been possible, but I have to admit that I've been always making very simple things by using whatever I had at home... This time I invested some money (not much to be honest) and decided to go  for craft shopping (embossing powders, stamps, heat gun, some paper sheets, tapes etc). I've watched ( 10 many times) and already shared on my  FB page  an amazing video  about how to make vellum overlay cards. The first time I prepared floating candles, it has been for a friend's wedding : she wanted something special for decorating the tables! As wedding favour, she chose something very peculiar (French hand-made candies) that she wanted to match with the candle colours. But let's spend few more words on my floating candles ... They are made of 100% paraffin with cotton (lead-free!!!) wicks . I've both used primed and non-primed wicks: buying a (non-primed) cotton reel is definitively less expensive. The candles for the wedding were fragrance-free, but I've also made some with essential oils or fragrances (btw, scent throw is not bad at all!) I've been using pre-coloured pellets and kids crayons for the colours and added glitters or other decorations. I do have a strong passion for hand-crafted and home-made things . Crafting relaxes me and offers me the chance to create uni que and personalized pieces for people I love. Crafting is not my primary activity, but if you are interested in any of my creations please contact me .
